Action of Beta-Adrenergic Blockades on the Liberation of Inorganic Phosphate in the Isolated Frog Heart

Abstract
The authors compared the ability of a number of sympathomimetic amines to increase contractility of the frog heart and the liberation of inorganic phosphate. It was-found that adrenaline, noradrenaline and isoprotermol, in doses which had a positive isotropic action on the heart, also increased the liberation of inorganic phosphate and obtained the following results.
i. Isoproterenol, adrenaline and noradrenaline¢¥produced increase of the liberation of inorganic phosphate of frog heart.
2. Propranolol, Pronethalol, DCI, MJ 1999 and MJ 1998 reduced the liberation of inorganic phosphate of frog heart.
3. The chronotropic and isotropic actions and the increase of the liberation of inorganic phosphate of
isoproterenol, adrenaline, and noradrenaline was inhibited by the administration of beta adrenergic blockades in the following order.
Propranolol )Pronethalol,>DCI >MJ 1999 )MJ 1998.
